
NASA Celebrates Restoration of Guam Station Damaged by Typhoon Mawar
NASA has fully restored its Guam Remote Station following damage caused by Super Typhoon Mawar in 2023. This restores a critical communication link within the agency's Near Space Network.

The details
The typhoon destroyed two 16.5-meter antennas and damaged an 11-meter north antenna. To maintain partial service, NASA borrowed two mobile terminals from the U.S. Army. The funding used for the rebuild also provided upgrades for three other Near Space Network ground stations. Repairs were managed by NASA’s Glenn Research Center.
