Our new contrail avoidance trial in Asia-Pacific
Google and Cathay Pacific are partnering to test AI-powered technology designed to reduce the warming impact of aircraft contrails in the Asia-Pacific region.

The details
Trials include ultra-long-haul flights lasting more than 16 hours. Data reaches pilots via in-flight Wi-Fi and Cathay Pacific's Electronic Flight Folder (EFF). Google is also partnering with the nonprofit initiative Contrails.org. Altitude adjustments are made within safety parameters to avoid affecting passengers.
What's next
The partnership is scaling into a larger second phase of trial flights.
