NASA’s Artemis II Crew Set to Receive Congressional Space Medal of Honor

This acknowledges the first humans to travel beyond the Moon in over 50 years, signaling a return to deep-space exploration.

Ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. EDT on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston.
President Donald J. Trump will present the medal to astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen.
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman will participate in the awards ceremony.

President Honors NASA’s Artemis II Crew with Highest US Space Award

The success of the Artemis II mission proves the capability to send humans far beyond Earth, providing the necessary foundation for returning to the lunar surface and eventually reaching Mars.

Ceremony held Aug. 28, 2026 at NASA's Johnson Space Center, honoring the first medal recipients since 2023.
Artemis II launched April 1 and splashed down April 10, traveling 252,756 miles from Earth and 695,081 miles total.
There are now 34 recipients of the Congressional Space Medal of Honor since the space program began.
