AWS IAM now supports 20 managed policies per role by default
Administrators can now more easily implement security best practices or add third-party partner products without undergoing a request process for additional policy slots.
- AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) increased the default quota for managed policies per role from 10 to 20.
- Reduces the need to make Service Quotas requests when following IAM best practices such as separating permissions into purpose-specific policies or onboarding partner products.
- Users requiring more than 20 managed policies per role can request a quota increase up to 25 using Service Quotas.
- The change is available in all commercial AWS Regions, AWS GovCloud (US), and China Regions, applying automatically with no action required.
